I lived in Teesdale from age seven on a small farm in Deepdale; went to Bowes school and then Barnard Castle Grammar Technical School.
These formative years and the people and landscape of Teesdale have a great influence on my poetry.
Working in social housing and in a local university has led me to consider how society impacts on individual lives.
I returned to Teesdale in 1994 and began writing poetry after attending a course at the Witham in 2018.
Here is a poem inspired by a workshop at the TCR Hub.
